The Workshop

Level: Strong beginner / Intermediate ,
Prerequisite:

rigger: You are confident with a 2 TK/gote, any style. A plus is knowing the RopeMarks style gote. You have a basic confidence with uplines on a single point.
model: You are able to recognize and communicate good/bad bodily sensations and are familiar with the differences between nerve and circulation impingement. You are  comfortable in a basic gote. A pre is experience being in full body ties.

This is a full-day workshop where you’ll learn both the art of suspending and being suspended. Suspensions are visually stunning and can be incredibly exhilarating, but they do come with risks. Our aim is to equip you with essential knowledge and foster a safe, shared experience, empowering you to apply what you’ve learned once you return home. Therefore, we emphasize safety, technique, and communication, progressing your skills for takeoff.

We’ll prepare you for suspensions by focusing on several key aspects. First and foremost, you’ll enhance your gote tying skills to ensure they are proficient and reliable. Next, you’ll improve your uplines tying skills to ensure they meet the demands of your desired suspensions. Finally, you’ll develop a comprehensive understanding of how forces act on the human body during suspensions, keeping safety as a top priority throughout the process.

In Japanese rope bondage, the gote is often the core of any suspension. In this workshop, we will not only use gotes but also explore how the gote is a classic element of Japanese rope bondage and kinbaku. As this is the tradition taught by RopeMarks, we find it crucial to start with the gote. During this initial part of the workshop, we’ll use your gote tying and receiving skills to assess your general proficiency in Japanese rope bondage. As a famous kinbakushi once said: “Kinbaku begins and ends with a gote.”

Next, we’ll build on your knowledge of the gote and uplines, guiding you through three full-body suspensions. During these sessions, we’ll introduce several smaller ties to add variety, fun and challenges to your suspensions.

We recognize that not everyone will have the same level of proficiency with tying or being in rope. Therefore, we’ve designed this workshop to accommodate different skill levels, allowing each tie to be performed at a pace that feels comfortable for you and your partner. Regardless of your starting point, your skills will progress to the next level. By the end of this workshop, both riggers and rope models will have advanced to an intermediate or strong intermediate skill level.

Recommended precursor is our Ryu #1, Kinbaku essentials workshop.
Recommended follow up workshop is our Ryu #3, Static and dynamic suspensions on bamboo.

Who’s RopeMarks?

RopeMarks, also known as Bob Roos, is a Dutch rope artist who specializes in Japanese rope bondage, also known as shibari or kinbaku. Professionally he began studying and perfecting his craft in 1999, under the lineage of the late Akechi Denki (明智伝鬼) and Naka Akira (奈加あきら) in Japan. While RopeMarks’ work reflects the traditional techniques taught by these leading kinbakushi, he has also developed his own unique and distinct style.

RopeMarks is widely recognized as the foremost Dutch expert in Japanese rope bondage, and is highly respected in the global kinbaku community. He has taught workshops and classes around the world including, but not limited to, Europe, the United States, Russia and Japan. Using the name RopeMarks Ryū he provides real, fun, hands-on, courses, classes, lessons and workshops in Japanese rope bondage worldwide.

Who’s Spring?

Spring is an enthusiastic Dutch rope bunny who loves intensity in every possible way.

Already at a young age Spring had kinky and BDSM fantasies that she started exploring in 2011. Rope fascinated her from the beginning and after her first experience she was hooked. She started experimenting with rope and BDSM in her private life and gradually moved towards experimenting and modeling in front of the the camera, satisfying her exhibitionistic streak.

As a rope bunny, Spring loves being seriously challenged. She experiences (slow) suffering as a sexy and sensual way to a deeper connection in which she can totally surrender. Apart from the physical interaction, she loves the impact of nonverbal communication.
