Japanese: 逆海老縛り
Gyaku (逆): Reverse
Ebi (海老): Shrimp
Shibari (縛り): Tie

The gyaku ebi is a reverse ebi, very similar to the western hog-tie. It is a classic endurance and military interrogation position. It is extremely effective in severely restricting your partners mobility and comfort.

Once bound in the gyaku ebi your m-jo must be able to move around, i.e. roll on the side. This position puts strain on the chest, making breathing difficult, and presents the danger of suffocation (positional asphyxiation).

Gyaku-ebi zuri (逆海老吊り)

This is the suspended version of the gyaku-ebi. In this position both legs are suspended individually.
