Japanese: 緊縛師
Kinbaku (緊縛) : See kinbaku glossary entry
Shi (師): Roughly translates the “teacher”
“One doesn’t boast about being a ‘shi’. One gets labeled a ‘shi’ because they’ve overcome huge barriers with their own hard work.”
– Mai Randa.
A term meaning “teacher of kinbaku”, the one who ties. Can be shortened to bakushi (縛 師).
A person that has reached a certain degree of proficiency in kinbaku.
This is considered a grand title for all but the most accomplished rope artist.
Expectations/standards for that in Japan are quite high not just “play” rope.
RopeMarks (Bob Roos) is (proudly) recognized as a kinbakushi.
