In Memoriam: Randa Mai March 25, 1959 – Sep.4 2022
With sadness I got news that Randa Mai has passed away, he suffered a heart attack and did not survive.
For me Randa-san was among the first influences of rope bondage from Japan, the other (big fan) influence was Akechi Denki. This was in the early 2000’s, also the early years of RopeMarks where I sponged as much information as humanly possible trying to grasp this mythical concept “Japanese rope bondage”.
The way I know of Randa-san is as a producer of some of the first good Japanese bondage manuals and real films. Content that mixed rope with real BDSM and sex. But for me he will always be the man that introduced me to the Tanuki tie.
If I have something to regret than that is never having gotten the opportunity to meet him for real!
The following image is wonderful, both Akechi-san and Randa-san together in one shot. This is from a 1999 (the birthyear of RopeMarks) interview Randa Mai held with Akechi Denki.
